This is by Simon Mawer of "Mendel's Dwarfs" ( ya the one he was shortlisted for Booker) . Set in the backdrop of mountains, it tell the story of Five characters in seven sections !! Its a boring plot in the beginning but catch up towards the middle and got a great finish. You will come to know all about mountaineering after reading this one. It basically says about individuals getting around with a wrong assumptions in their head - like believing someone is your father but realizes in the end its not !!!! Jamie Mathewson believes his father is climber who died in himalayas, he lives his whole life believing that his destiny lies in the mountains but only to get disappointed after knowing that his climbing partner, Robert Dewar, is the actual son of Guy Mathewson. Now i don't know why the mother Diana Dewar doesnt say this to Robert at all . There is another Female who plays the role of 'man behind the stage' , Meg, who likes to be get laid all the time ...even with her boss, her colleague , Guy and also with her son's friend, Robert.
The writing is beautiful, the relation complex and the pace superb- i like it .
